Ligatne’s nuclear bunker (located 75 km from Riga, based 9 meters beneath the ground) was built for Latvia’s Communist elite during the Cold War. It was built to protect the elite of Soviet Latvia when the Soviet Union constantly maintained high alert for a nuclear assault from the United States. The bunker was supplied with everything needed to survive several months after a nuclear fallout.
It became known to the publics in 2003 and it is now available for visits, sharing it’s historical facts, showing it’s equipment, providing you with the typical Soviet-era delicious menu and even offers you to become a part of reality game!
